i'm not really into knobs) and the Magpul pistol grip looks oddly long and weird for some reason. It's bolt knob looks janky (although the Ruger knob has no stunning appeal to me either. The fact that the barrel and stock don't follow the same line adds (in my opinion) an odd looking "drop" from the action to the stock. So basically the $300 buttstock I would put on a Ruger precision (this has been on the imaginary wish list since day one) is already on this rifle making it $700 less then I would be into the Ruger.įor some reason though I feel like the Remington is falling short on the whole sexy appeal. It comes stock with a Magpull PRS gen 3 butt stock and pistol grip. If I've read everything right it comes with a Remington 700 action chambered in your choice of 6.5, 308, or 260 rem. Here's what has me playing tug of war between the 2 models at this point. Recently my eyes were seduced by an email in my inbox announcing the up and coming Remington 700 PCR. I trust the brand (most of the time).Īt the moment I'm glad I've waited on buying since it seems a lot of competition has come forward for it. But my current go to hunting rifle is a Ruger shooting a rem. I grew up shooting both Remington's and Rugers. Now I want to ascend into true long range shooting and the price points of today have enabled the desire to educate myself in the ways of a longer shot. (nothing major here like 400 to 500 yd at most). Growing up we loved to push our stock rifles as far as we could, routinely trying to out-do the last successful string of hits. Not being made of money this is a big deal. The Ruger nailed a few must haves for me. With it being a large purchase for me and my wife I've tucked away my desires and held off in purchasing one. Ever since I shot the RPR at a Ruger event at our local range (it was the 308 though) I fell in love with it. I've been kicking around buying a Ruger Precision in the 6.5 Creedmoor for a year or so now but haven't pulled the trigger (pun intended).
